Places in classes are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Cost of the six week Pilates matwork beginner course is $158 but only $130 if you register online now and specify on your registration which of the following courses you would like to book into:

What you need to bring to your Pilates classes:
Comfortable clothing, socks, water bottle, friendly smile.Note:A number of beginners classes may already be running or fully booked. So they are probably not shown on this timetable. We apologise if any of the classes below are full when you call to make your booking. Please refresh your screen so that you have the latest version of the current timetable.

Pilates Mat Work - What is it?

Pilates mat work requires participants to hold strength and flexibility positions using body weight, super concentration and breathing techniques to give the body an all over workout. It is particularly useful for increasing core abdominal and back strength.

Manuka Pilates Studio
Centrally located in Franklin Street Manuka, above Millers, this luxurious private studio is a perfect location for private lessons and small group classes. With natural light pouring in from three sides the studio also has a picturesque view overlooking the bustling village that is Franklin street. A joy to work out in.

Claire, says Pilates has a number of big positives, particularly for office workers. "Pilates has taken the fitness world by storm, combining both strength and mobility. People seeking a non-intimidating fitness activity, with a scientific structure and no real equipment needs, are finding that Pilates is the answer. What's more they are achieving important results from the program including core strength and stability, stress reduction and all in a safe and controlled environment.

Postural correction for office workers is a big need and Pilates provides one of the best approaches for meeting that need." Claire, who is a partner and personal trainer in Fun & Fitness Personal Trainers, decided that Pilates was the way to go after spending so much time with individual personal training clients correcting their posture. "Many people have limited body awareness and lack the ability to turn on the right muscles during exercise. They tend to rely on the larger muscles that are already strong and ignore the weaker/deeper muscles such as the transversus abdominus.
Pilates teaches you to train your local muscles before the larger muscles, thus adding intensity with the strength work. Pilates allows us to individually address these issues in the cost affective, fun, motivating environment of group fitness classes.

Can Pilates help you?
That probably depends on how you go about giving it a try!

Pilates is best experienced as an interactive session, with highly skilled and qualified instructors who have knowledge of your body and it’s specific needs. Compared to the Pilates you may experience at a crowded, ungraded gym class or via a DVD or book, the Pilates “Studio” experience is a new world, which will deliver you far better individual outcomes.

Pilates Manuka have graded mat work classes from beginners up to level 6, and limit their class numbers to an average of 8-10 participants per class. This allows for greater instructor interaction and specific attention to your ability level.
